NHS is an extra-curricular group at GHS for Juniors and Seniors. All members of NHS are chosen for their leadership qualities, dedicated time for service, maintaining high academic standing, and for having an all-around strong work ethic and character.   In addition to maintaining at least a 3.4 or higher GPA, serving as a leader in the school and in the community, and participating in school and community activities/clubs/teams, members of NHS must at least 45 to 25 hours of community service (depending on his/her grade level when inducted).  NHS does conduct fundraisers to help support its activites and all members are required to participate.   Students are invited second semester of their sophomore or junior year to complete the application process for NHS, if they meet the GPA requirement.  Once the candidates complete the application process, the Faculty Council reviews all the applications to select the qualified candidates.  Candidates must meet the set criteria in each area: character, scholarship, leadership, and service.   NHS members participate in a variety of activities.  Some of the activities are service projects, hosting trivia nights, tutoring on a one-to-one basis, hosting a leadership training for members plus selected sophomore and juniors, and assisting with school sporting events, school special events and community events.   National Honor Society
